When do you take profits?
I like to take profits at 25%, 50%, 75/100% and possibly leave one contract to run closer towards expiration. Remember, consistent profits are better than no profits.
What amount of money would you recommend to start trading?
Anything is better than nothing, but you will not be able to diversify as well until your account balance is around $5,000.
How do you decide which stocks to buy?
By performing due diligence, fundamental analysis and looking for a catalyst that will move price.

Can you clarify what you mean by short term, mid term and leaps?
Usually I refer to short term as anything under 3 months, mid term 3 months to 12 months, and LEAPS/long term are more than a year to expiration.

What do you mean by dollar cost averaging?
Could this apply to options as well? Dollar Cost Averaging is where you buy or sell over time to get an average price since we can't time the top or bottom. Yes it can apply to options.
What are calls & puts?
A call option is bought if the trader expects the price of the underlying to rise within a certain time frame. A put option is bought if the trader expects the price of the underlying to fall within a certain time frame. The strike price is the set price that a put or call option can be bought or sold.
